Since joining the law firm of Atlas & Hall, LLP, Sofia Ramon has handled litigation of civil suits, including cases involving personal and catastrophic injury, transportation law, toxic torts, commercial and class action litigation and insurance defense. Sofia was elected a Partner with the firm in 2001.
Sofia received her law degree from the University of Texas-Austin School of Law in 1992. She practiced law in San Antonio at Small, Craig & Werkenthin, P.C. until 1995 and then returned to the Rio Grande Valley.
Her professional licenses include the State Bar of Texas, U.S. District Court (Southern and Western Districts of Texas) and the U.S. Court of Appeals (Fifth Circuit). She was recently nominated as the Texas Association of Defense Counsel Area Vice President for Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley for 2011-2012. She is currently serving her second term with the State Bar of Texas Standing Committee on Court Rules, to which she was appointed in 2007. She also serves on the Attorney Admissions Committee for the Southern District of Texas (2004-2013). She has served several terms as an Officer and a Director for the Hidalgo County Bar Association. As part of her work with the HCBA, she served on a number of public service committees as well as a Director for Texas Rural Legal Aid, Inc. Sofia is currently a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, Litigation Counsel of America and the Texas Bar Foundation.

Sofia was born and raised in Edinburg, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas/Pan American, magna cum laude, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications (theater emphasis). While at UTPA, she was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi academic honors fraternity as well as the honorary theatre fraternity of Alpha Psi Omega.
